William Supardjo
Design Manager
William Supardjo graduated with honors from Tarumanagara University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. During his studies, he received the prestigious Djarum Beasiswa Plus Award, recognizing his exceptional academic performance and leadership potential.
As the Design Manager at Suradjin Sutjipto, Inc. (SSI), William has designed and contributed to some landmark projects, including B Residence Grogol, a 24-story vertical mixed-use building in West Jakarta. He ensures compliance with structural codes and standards while delivering efficient, innovative, and high-performance structural systems tailored to complex architectural demands. In this project, William also demonstrated his concrete expertise, involving reinforced concrete detailing, formwork strategies, and high-performance concrete construction, showcasing his ability to design and execute durable, efficient concrete solutions.
William’s project portfolio includes a diverse collection of commercial and retail developments, such as Karawang Outlet Mall, Wine Bar SCBD, and XXI Living World Kota Wisata, along with office buildings, including the OCS Marketing Gallery, industrial projects particularly the THCI Factory, and architectural and public space developments namely the Metro Entrance Canopy. These projects have strengthened his ability to address a wide range of structural challenges.
William has developed a deep understanding of Performance-Based Design (PBD) methodologies, applied to address specific project requirements and optimize structural performance. His expertise in PBD enables him to develop tailored solutions for complex structural systems, including those beyond the scope of building codes.
Moreover, William has undertaken post-earthquake assessments of various buildings in Jakarta. These assessments primarily involve identifying signs of damage through on-site inspections and evaluations. For higher-level assessments, he applies procedures aligned with ASCE 41 guidelines. The most thorough evaluations involve nonlinear analyses to assess structural behavior under seismic conditions, enhancing resilience to future seismic events and identifying necessary improvements. William is also well-versed in assessments required for SLF (Sertifikat Laik Fungsi), ensuring buildings meet the necessary criteria to certify their functionality and safety.
Beyond building design practice, William shares his expertise through publications and professional talks. His technical papers, focusing on finite element analysis and seismic evaluations, have been presented at national and international conferences. Additionally, he has developed interactive spreadsheets for structural design and assessment, enhancing precision, efficiency, and optimization in structural design workflows.
As an active member of leading professional organizations, including the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and Himpunan Ahli Konstruksi Indonesia (HAKI), William remains at the forefront of advancements in structural engineering.
William holds multiple certifications from the American Concrete Institute (ACI), which reflect his comprehensive expertise in design, construction, and repair. He also holds an American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) certification as a steel detailer, highlighting his specialization in structural steel systems.
As one of the contributors to SNI 6816:2024, "Guide to Presenting Reinforcing Steel Design Details" William has demonstrated his commitment to advancing structural engineering standards. This involvement reflects his dedication to fostering better practices within the structural engineering community
