Mixed-Use Buildings
Pacific World Center
Kaohsiung
Pacific World Center is a state-of-the-art mixed-use building in Taiwan, designed to accommodate retail, office, and hotel spaces while ensuring structural resilience against extreme seismic and typhoon wind forces. Utilizing a high-performance steel structural system, the building integrates outriggered, eccentrically braced frame (EBF), and special moment resisting frame (SMRF) systems to effectively dissipate energy and enhance lateral stability. The outriggered system connects the core to the perimeter structure, minimizing building drift, while the EBF system optimizes seismic energy dissipation through controlled yielding in link beams. Additionally, the SMRF system provides high ductility and moment resistance, ensuring robust performance under extreme loading conditions. Strategically engineered to withstand Taiwan’s frequent earthquakes and powerful typhoon winds, Pacific World Center exemplifies cutting-edge structural design, offering both safety and functionality in a dynamic urban environment.
